Eve Hussettes!

A wee bit of sad news as some folx may know or some may not?

Rachel has sad to say, left The Hussy's making them a four piece.

All very amiable and all still friends.

From what I can gather a combination of stage fright and the poor audiences that the band received on the last couple of gig outtings up here in Scotland.

Do know that The Hussy's are grateful for Rachel's input to the band when she joined both on audio and live material.

I thought she was great and apart from what she brought to The Hussy's sound, was nice to see Fili having a ciggie & drinking buddy rather than being surrounded by neanderthal guys like she was before Rachel joined, during gigs.

Bad news, didn't see that one coming. Rachel definitely brought a new sound to The Hussy's. I wonder if this will see them revert to their originial style. Is she playing tomorrow night or are they playing as a 4 piece?

Could be the reason that they've been practicing Jesus etc as these are much more guitar based songs with no synth.

Eve D!

Not being a musical person, I didn't actually 'get' the "playing old songs" connection.

I just thought bands went on stage and pressed a different button on their sound system/PC to get another sound? Lol

As for what tomorrow's eve holds for The Hussy's final gig, everyone's guess is as good as mine?
(Did I just do "P.A." there and start a The Hussy rumour? )

Well Jack every cloud as they say. Will be good to hear some vintage Hussy's if they're down to a 4 piece. Although even the older songs like tiger have a piano sound, but I remember James brought a keyboard to gigs for a while after Greg left and before Rachel joined, so maybe that's what will happen. There wasn't a problem with this as far as I remember and it sounded good.

But actually I think at that time they might still have had Ronnie which means that while James was playing the keyboard, there would still be someone playing the guitar......

my head hurts :(

Eve D!

Think you may have probably just made a new friend in hiho as every one of his clouds has a "Hi Ho Silver Lining" :)

As for the new The Hussy's sound? ...

Sad to see Rachel leave as I really liked her. I believe most of the keys on the album had a lot of input from 2 other talented keyboard players in the in the band so it doesn't mean the end of the new sound. I did really enjoy the London gig as I got to spend some time with the guys at a Thai restaurant. I do hope this is not the end of the road. It must be hard going not getting the recognition that I truly believe is deserved. It was funny to see the setlist put together over a bowl of stir fry and I had to text Bish to get the lyrics for snowboard as Fili couldn't remember the 2nd verse

As I have never seen the Hussys live I can only really go by their studio recordings and I felt Rachel brought quite a few clever riffs to Japanese Graffiti. Maybe she isn't as technically proficient as Greg was but she does possess a unique musicial sense and personality. And she is certainly 100% cuter than Greg!

I'm sure the Hussys will continue to evolve and I doubt anyone can keep James and Fili from writing new tunes. Maybe we won't have a new CD every year but I'm sure as time and finances permit there will be new recordings. I pray Steph sticks around as there is not a better bass player in Glasgow. And Chris is a damn good drummer.

As Jack said, life is more fun when it's unexpected.

Bye Rachel and best of luck!

Rachel was a great laugh and she really helped us out of a jam when we were trying to get gigs sorted around Super Pro after we'd lost Gordy and Gary (I sound like David St Hubbins at the airport scene in Tap). I dont really know the ins and outs of why she left (I just got a short text from her) but we had some rotten gigs in November and she probably just thought it was too much hard work for very little gain. We did a gig the week after New Year and it was Ice Station Zebra conditions which really affected the turnout and that probably influenced her decision as it was a total low point for us.

We only had 2 weeks to rehearse as a 4 piece band and we did consider pulling out of our gigs. Some of the best bands I've ever seen live only have a bass , a guitar and drums and if you've got good players and a great singer it can actually sound bigger than a comparative 5 or 6 piece band ( just check the Who doing "A Quick One" on Rock N Roll Circus versus the Stones and you'll know what I'm on about). So we decided to give it a go and lo and behold it really worked particularly at the 13th Note.

Anyways it was always our plan to do an album this year and we're reasonably far advanced with the demos and we have a style for the record so that'll be occupying us for the next few months. I wouldnt read too much into us not doing gigs- it takes a lot of work to e mail and promote your own gigs (ie to do it properly and get people down to the gig) and if you're playing every month people get sick of you and need to feel your gigs are reasonably special.

Eve K!

Of course I do !!

As the minute anyone says 'that saying' that line starts automatically playing in my brain which is like a little 'Juke Box'. :)

Thanx to JC & The Supernaturals for being as miserable as moi in a funny way ?

I've become so cynical these days,
I don't know how it started but it won't go away
See the lines around my eyes,
See the sarcasm in my smile,

You'd better smile
Smile
Cause that's all that you've got left,
Your life's a mess, you've been cut adrift

You'd better smile
I feel like a dalek inside,
Everything's gone grey but used to be so black and white
See the lines around my eyes,
See the sarcasm in my smile,

You'd better smile
Smile

Hey J!

All sounds like a wee commando style raid (Except commandos don't eat stir fry they eat worms and vegetable roots  )

But cool you and B helped save the night.

And maybe an indication of the service the forum provides, as like where else can you find The Hussy's song lyrics?

Pats on the back all round !

Eve J!

Being moi it was always in the back of my mind to do extra copies for deserving folx and friends.

Think I did some, but trying to find untitled Dvds in my Bowieroom is like trying to do the same in a medium sized record store (Are they still called 'Record Stores' ? Lol)

If I find them, then of course they'll be posted (And yes D ! Of course you can have a copy just for being a scrounger!  )

Will have a look in the morrow, and If I can't find them I'll make new copies asap.

Would be cool If folx had Dvd burners as I've been faffing about today and plans are afoot and in progress as we speak to provide all the Dvds at the click of a button, but that's a post for my original The Supernaturals topic?

Have A Fun Eve !

I am so upset that you would refer to me as a scrounger when I gave you TWO badges! At worst, I'm a sponger :D
